Each year, our speaker series includes nationally and internationally renowned psychoanalysts, some of whom are members of our own Society.

The Atlanta Psychoanalytic Society also sponsors a paper prize award every two years for the paper by a trainee that has been judged to be the best paper on a topic relevant to psychoanalytic theory and/or treatment. Eligible trainees include candidates at the Institute or psychiatry residents-in-training. The winner receives a cash prize of $500, and he or she is invited to present their paper to a meeting of the Society.

The Society also periodically sponsors half-day clinical workshops featuring distinguished psychoanalytic clinicians addressing topics such as couples’ therapy and the treatment of eating disorders. These workshops are open to all licensed mental health professionals.

Many Society members are clinicians who love to treat people and who are taking new referrals. If you are interested in treatment, please contact a clinician.

We welcome new members! We are a diverse group, comprised of clinicians, students, professors, attorneys, businesspeople, and community leaders, but we share a passion for psychoanalysis and the insights it can bring to our work, our personal lives, and our community more generally. If you, too, share these interests, please consider joining us! For more information about membership, contact our membership committee chair, Teri Sivilli, MPH, LMSW, 678.551.2530 or our president, Susan Chance, PhD, at 404.966.8395.
